Birth? or Conception?
Who hasn’t read John 3 and assumed they knew what Yahshua was revealing here?
Born again? or Born from above?
John 3:3 Except a man be born ‘again’
Again in text here is 509 in Strong’s ‘Anothen’ and it strictly means ‘From above or from a higher place’
‘unless one is born from above he can not see the Kingdom of God.’
The point is when and where does this birth take place?
It has been assumed that this birth takes place when one receives the seed of the ‘Word of Truth’
When a seed is planted in the ground, say an apple seed, at the moment it is planted it is not yet a tree, it takes time and much care.
First the the husk of the seed must break open so that the life may take root downward to find the water and nourishment. Then it it begins an upward journey to the surface in order to bud.
Why is it so hard to believe that it is very similar with us?
Conception is not birth. It is the easiest thing in the world to get pregnant, ask any teenager.
It is very difficult to give birth, ask any mother.
So when does the birth actually take place?
Yahshua said in John 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
BTW the word ‘Born’ here is the same as it is in John 3:3
Now the time frame for John 16:21 is shortly before Yahshua is at Gethsemane or rather the period between the upper room and Gethsemane.
So Yahshua uses the illustration of a woman giving birth or being delivered of her child to illustrate what would happen at the Cross.
It is the same language that He uses in the ‘narrow way.’
So Yahshua is telling us that it is at the ‘Cross’ that we are born from above. That the ‘seed’ in this case has fully developed and must come forth.
So the illustration of the ‘sower of the seed’ is conception, i.e. you get pregnant.
But it is the illustration of the woman in travail for the actual birth.
If this were not extremely important then Yahshua was not really very serious when He said ‘Take up your cross and follow me.’
We are not birthed because Yahshua went to the Cross, we are birthed because we follow Him to exact same place. However I might add that no one could obtain the birth unless Yahshua had led the way.
Paul’s doctrine of ‘vicarious substitution’ has robbed the wannabe disciples of the most powerful experience they could ever hope to obtain, because they believed that because Yahshua went to the cross, that now they do not have to.
This is Truth ‘The sons and the daughters of YHVH are birthed between the cross beams.’
