Have you counted the cost?

Exodus 2, The Kingdom

Browsing through the want-ads for Pastors, I came across several that said they wanted a ‘man after God’s own heart.’  I was tempted to write to each of these and there were many, responding thus, ‘No, you don’t, you really don’t want a man after God’s own heart.  If you had one of these you wouldn’t like it too much.  A man after God’s heart would be a man who follows the lamb where ever He goes.  Think about it for a moment, it was the lamb that was crucified, and to follow the lamb would be to follow Him to the same place.  Now Sirs do you really want to go there?  Are you willing to be stripped of everything you know and everything you think you know?  Are you willing to be stripped of everything you’ve learned and everything you think that you have learned?  Are you willing to face and fight the hordes of hell that are utterly desperate to keep you from your Calaryesque experience?  Are you willing to submit ‘your church’ to such things.  If you had a ‘Man after God’s own Heart’ it would never again be business as usual ever again.  Are you willing to step into the sanctuary and face the ‘Abomination that causes Desolation?’  Because if you have a man after God’s own heart, you will.  Are you willing to suffer the long dark night of the soul?  Are you willing to drink of the ‘Cup?’

When Yahshua used the story of the kings going out to war and knowing whether or not they had the resources to complete to campaign, He was telling us that there will be a battle to enter the Kingdom that will cost us everything.  ‘Count the cost.’

When Yahshua told us of the ‘Pearl of Great Price’ hidden in the field and the man who desired it gave everything he had to possess it.  He was telling us that to follow Him would cost us everything.  Therefore before beginning the journey count the cost.

I have found in this life that are really only two types of people, they which hearken and obey the inborn ‘word of truth’ and they which hearken and obey the word of men.
